PASSION
Life & Love

Creativity may be a hobby…but, needs passion,to excel…

A hobby is an activity that we like to follow in our free time for pleasure.

“What are your hobbies?”
That’s a common question everybody asks.
As a kid, I used to say, “Uncle my hobbies are stamp collection, coins collection, music and reading comics”…blah blah.
Well, as a good kid, apart from my studies I did other things as a hobby.

However, everything was short-lived and fragile. Hobbies kept changing with time and financial constraints.

Hobbies are meant to be like that. As they change to break the monotony of life patterns, they change like unending and shifting faces.
But,
What if we chose to make our hobby a passion?

I left stamp collection when I moved to professional college. Philately became obsolete.
Recently I was at a conference where one of the doctors had displayed his stamp collection. There must have been over 5000 rare stamps of all kinds, ages and cultures.

Now, this is a passion! A simple hobby that has become a passion.

In another instance, I was a visiting faculty member at a Hong Kong hand surgery conference. A senior hand surgeon from the U.S. displayed a collection of his stamps that had pictures of HAND.
Back home, I opened my old collection and took out all the stamps that had pictures of the Hand. I sent them to the Doctor. He became emotional and thanked me several times.

I tried to nurture his passion with the help of a hobby I had.

I wonder if my childhood games like playing ‘Doctor-Doctor’ actually turned into a passion, and I became a surgeon and a Hand surgeon.

There are umpteen examples of children of actors, music maestros, dancers and others following their parents and nurturing the so-called Hobby of PASSION and excelling at it. BUT, not sure, if this was forced upon them.
However, most of the time the things are forced upon the children…” Beta you have to follow our family traditions and work in the field that your father did.”… Isn’t it a routine soap?

What if we nurtured one of our hobbies and made it a passion?
There are so many professionals who, besides having a career, have also excelled in hobbies because of their passion.

Anything done with passion yields marvellous results.

Doesn’t this hold true with relationships too?
